Levels of Membership

There are four classes of members:

  • Honourary Members:
    The Association may appoint Honourary Members at any General Meeting by recommendation of the Board Members. The duration of such Honourary Membership will be determined by recommendation of the Board of Directors confirmed by ordinary resolution of a general Meeting. Honourary Members may not vote or hold office in the Association unless they also hold active membership.

  • Active Members:
    Members status is available to Canadian residents, either individuals, legal partnerships, firms or companies incorporated under the laws of Canada or of any Province or territory of Canada, who are actively engaged in the breeding of Gelbvieh Cattle.

  • Non-Resident Members:
    The Board of Directors may, on recommendation of the Membership Committee, accept as Non-Resident Members, those individuals, firms, partnerships or companies not eligible for active membership, who are actively engaged in the breeding of Gelbvieh Cattle. The office and services of the Association shall be available to such members on the same basis and at the same fee as for active members. Non-Resident Members may attend and participate in meetings; however, they will not be allowed to stand for elections as Directors or other officers of the Association nor to assume any role in the management of the Association.

  • Junior Members:
    Shall be those individuals who have not yet attained the age of twenty-one (21) years, who apply for Junior Membership and are accepted as junior members and, pay the prescribed admission fee. Junior members are entitled to register cattle at member rates and shall be bound by the By-laws and Rules and regulations of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association. Junior members shall be entitled to vote on or after their eighteenth birthday but shall not hold office in the Canadian Gelbvieh Association. Junior can apply to become Active Members of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association by paying the annual membership dues.
